Dyana Carmella is an American writer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. In 2023, she published her debut nonfiction book, A Walk Thru Neverland, chronicling her solo adventure along the 1,200-mile Pacific Northwest Trail. She is also the producer and co-host of Bush and Banter, an outdoor adventure podcast where she and thru-hiker Jennifer Mabus interview explorers from around the world.
A passionate advocate for solo exploration, Carmella believes in its power to foster self-discovery and a deeper connection to the world. Her solo travels have taken her across New Zealand, Australia, Greece, Spain, and Iceland. She has also thru-hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Colorado Trail and has summited Mount Whitney—the tallest peak in the lower 48 states—six times.
Beyond backpacking, Carmella is deeply involved in wilderness survival training. She has trained with the U.S. Military at their base camp in Fairbanks, Alaska, and studied under SERE specialist Jessie Krebs.
